Video Editor

Remote
Freelance/Contract
We're hiring our first video editor.

This isn't a role where you'll cut the same corporate talking head video over and over. This is an early hire at a growing B2B positioning and content agency producing video for international clients doing serious numbers.

About Switchfire

Switchfire is a B2B positioning and content agency based in Scotland, trusted globally. We help ambitious businesses command their markets through strategy, creative, and content that actually moves the needle.

Our clients include global cybersecurity companies, B2B tech brands, and executives building serious personal brands. We don't make pretty things for the sake of it. We make things that drive results.

We're a small, sharp team that moves fast and holds a high bar. No bloated processes. No layers of approval. Just smart people doing excellent work.

The role

You'll be our dedicated video editor, working across two main areas:

Client work: editing product videos, explainer content, video podcasts, employer branding pieces, and thought leadership content for our clients. You need to be able to make complex topics visually compelling.

Switchfire team channels: editing long and short-form videos for the team's marketing channels. This content covers marketing strategy, behavioural science, business building, and leadership.

Day to day, that means:

  • Editing long-form video for YouTube and client channels
  • Cutting short-form clips for LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms
  • Adding motion graphics, lower thirds, captions, and visual elements that elevate the content without overcomplicating it
  • Colour grading and audio cleanup
  • Working from briefs, but also bringing your own creative judgement to the edit
  • Managing your own workload and hitting deadlines without being chased

What we're looking for

Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve. This is our primary editing tool. You need to know it well. Not just the Cut page, but Colour, Fusion, and Fairlight. If you're a Premiere or Final Cut editor who's "willing to learn," this isn't the right fit.

A strong portfolio. Show us what you've made. We want to see long-form and short-form work that demonstrates pacing, storytelling instinct, and visual taste. Client work, personal projects, YouTube channels you've edited. It all counts.

Speed without sacrifice. We produce a high volume of content. You need to work efficiently without letting quality slip. Fast turnarounds are the norm, not the exception.

An eye for story. Editing isn't just cutting. It's knowing what to keep, what to lose, and how to hold attention. We want someone who understands pacing and narrative, not just transitions and effects.

Self-management. We're a remote team. You'll need to manage your time, communicate proactively, and deliver without someone looking over your shoulder. We trust our people to operate like professionals.

Motion graphics ability is a bonus. If you can build simple animations and visual elements in Fusion or After Effects, that puts you ahead.

What you'll get

  • The chance to be the first dedicated editor in a growing agency with serious ambitions.
  • Direct collaboration with the founder. Your work shapes the face of the brand.
  • Creative freedom within clear briefs. We don't micromanage the edit.
  • A team that values grit, speed, and quality over politics and process.
  • Remote flexibility. Work from wherever you do your best work.
